Discipleship Groups

What is Discipleship?

Discipleship is a lifelong journey of MEETING God, DISCOVERING who we are in Christ, BECOMING more like Jesus, and LEADING others to do the same!

Why do we make Disciples?

Jesus commanded us to! Matthew 28:18-20 โ€œAnd Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, โ€˜All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.โ€™โ€

What is a Discipleship Group?

A Discipleship Group (Dgroup) is a group of 3-5 people of the same gender that meet weekly for the purpose of spiritual transformation and replication.

How long do Dgroups meet for?

Dgroups meet for 12-18 months.

What is the role of a Dgroup lead??

Every Dgroup has a โ€˜leadโ€™. The responsibilities of the leader are:
  • To organize the location and time for weekly meetings
  • To act as a facilitator during the meetings (not an instructor!)
  • To strive to meet the key pillars of a Dgroup

What is Replication?

At the end of every Dgroup, each member should strive to lead their own Dgroup of 3-5 people. This continual growth produces amazing replication of Disciples of Jesus.

If you have any questions, you can talk with one of the Dgroup Coordinators: Cindy Hayes, Samantha Quinones, Celia Arnese, James Kvam, Tim Moed, Manny Molina, and Valdemir Arnese.  Or email dgroups@illuminate.church
